XR Events Tire Sample & Lab Testing Process

  • Teams must be ready to take tire samples at any time during the event.
  • Tire is marked for inspection by XR Events Official.
  • XR Events Official confirms marked tire upon notifying the team of the sample.
  • Member of team removes marked tire from car.
  • Member of team utilizes teams equipment to remove samples as instructed.
  • Up to (5) tests will be taken per marked tire.  Samples will be approximately two (2”) inches and taken from anywhere indicated by an XR Events Official.
  • As samples are removed the team member will place them inside a vial that an XR Events Official will be holding. Up to 3 samples per vial/test.  Team member will seal the vial with a crimper.
  • All test data and photos of each sample are entered into an electronic database. Each test is digitally signed by an XR Events Official, team member, and witness.
  • Sealed vial will then be placed inside of the evidence bag.  Once placed inside, the evidence bag is sealed.  Evidence bag is then marked with the following: (Indicator “Test #1-5”, Date Code, Tire Compound, Date of Event,).
  • Simultaneously, Test #1 and #2 may be sent to Blue Ridge Labs and Test #3 may be sent to ARDL for analysis.
  • Test #4 is retained by the Series if additional testing is needed.
  • If tested tires are found to not confirm to manufacturers submitted benchmark they are deemed illegal.  Driver and/or car owner will be notified of results, and in writing if tire test(s) do not match factory benchmark.
  • At times, XR Events will confiscate the entire tire for testing. Any sample(s) requested by the team, up to 3, per test, will be conducted at the time of confiscation. The tire will be replaced with a new one of same compound by XR Events.
  • All tests are deemed final when received from Blue Ridge Labs and ARDL.
  • Test results will be posted to xrevents.com upon completion of all tests.
  • Teams may “protest” a drivers tire by notifying XR Events tech staff on race night and before the feature event of the protesting competitors class. A protest fee of $1000 per tire must be paid to XR Events in cash and proper information must be submitted via a protest form. Any protests will be denied if requested after the class feature has started.
  • All test results are final and can not be appealed.
